My Review

For the first time in years, I went into a beloved author’s book blind. Even though this was a new series, one of the main things I love about LLV’s books and series is they all tie together somehow. That was not the case with Hissy Fit. The Southern Gentleman series has brand new characters, a brand new town, and all new things to fall in love with over and over again. Surprisingly I found it refreshing. Funny how what I usually love about her books is the one thing I was glad there was an absence of this time. You know how you sometimes wish you could go back and read a favorite book/author for the first time again with no knowledge of what was to come? That’s exactly what this was like and I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough.

LLV has the inane ability to draw you in deep and fast and put you in a position to where you feel as if you are a part of the world she has carefully crafted. First of all, Raleigh. It’s the town I have lived in my entire life, so right off the bat I was in love. I don’t think I have ever read a more clumsy, fallible, and lovable character in my life. She was endearing to the point  you wanted to wrap her in a cocoon and fight all her battle for her. While underneath she certainly possessed a strength most didn’t see,  I loved how vulnerable she was and I especially loved that Ezra recognized that (well, when he finally noticed her that is). I enjoyed that most of the setting took place in a school. We don’t have enough books written about our unsung heroes and I loved that it was the setting she chose. We were able to fall in love with them in the halls and classrooms and ball fields all while having the added dynamics of the students and other teachers.

But above everything else, I just really loved the chemistry between Raleigh and Ezra. I appreciated that he had to work for it and she didn’t just fall over for him (well, I mean she physically did, but she made him work for the rest). I loved that there was no BS. Once they both realized what was there, that was it. Between the tender moments and explosive ones, I lived for them all! They were both genuinely good people who cared about their community and doing better for those around them. They could have both gone on to bigger things, but both wanted to stay in the community that raised them. The community where they had roots.

LLV did an excellent job setting up the rest of this series with many side characters and even more possibilities of pairings. I cannot wait to see where the next few books take us. I have my suspicions, but I will eagerly wait with everyone else to see if I’m right.

Coming April 23rd!

Poor judgment: knowing better yet doing it anyway.

Flint Stone is a professional in every way.

He’s a police officer with the K-9 unit and works at Gun Barrel High as the school resource officer. In his spare time, he’s working his heart out to create a successful gym from the ground up.

He’s loved by every single person he ever encounters—student, faculty, and employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis Presley.

The only thing they have in common is their mothers’ poor excuses for names.
Period. The end.

So why is it every time she crosses his path that he has the urge to mess up her perfectly curled hair? Or unbutton a few of her prim and proper buttons?

He knows he should stay away, yet like the high schoolers he’s around every day, he has no choice but to react first and think about the consequences later.

Side note—bad decisions are made, leading to lapses in judgment that threaten both of their jobs. Yet when the time comes, neither one can seem to find the wherewithal to care. Why? Because being bad feels so good.
