“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“Just a little tight, is all.”

I inhale through my nose. I have to shove the pregnancy stuff to the back corner of my brain. We’re a long way off from Olivia letting me pump her full of my semen anyhow, so why am I stressing about it now? The first step is showing her how compatible we can be.

And that starts now.

I smile at her. “Sit tight. I’ll be right back.”

I grab a bottle of massage oil from the hall closet and return to the living room. The soft jazz music seems to float in the air, creating a pleasant buzz in the atmosphere.

Olivia’s eyes widen when I rejoin her on the couch, but she doesn’t question me.

“I’ll give you a massage,” I suggest. “Take off your sweatshirt.”

Olivia flinches, chewing on her lip while she watches me. “But I’m not wearing anything underneath.”

That’s the idea. “I promise not to look.”

She hesitates for another second, then turns her back to me and pulls her shirt over her head, dropping it to the floor. The creamy canvas in front of me is one to be admired. The twin dimples in her lower back near the band of her leggings would make lesser men weep.

I warm a few drops of oil between my palms and rest my hands on her stiff shoulders.

“Relax. Okay?”

My Review

Even two days later, I still can’t decide if the first book hurt more or did this one. I’ve come to the conclusion that they hurt for different reasons. Where the first book was all about questioning something new they were both thrust into, this book was about them coming together and making the best of their situation. I loved the push and pull of this story. You can tell they are both harboring deep feelings for one another but darn if they will be the first to admit it to the other. It left me wanting to shake some sense into them. Each time I felt they were taking a step forward it was as if they would take ten more backwards.

Where the cliffhanger from the first book left me full of questions, this one left my heart aching. Even though I could see it coming a mile away, I truly understood Noah’s dilemma. There truly never seemed to be a good time, and I feel like no matter when he told her, it would have been disastrous and left her questioning her trust in him. Nevertheless, it was so incredibly painful to read. That being said, I’m glad we got some actual steam in fruition this book. I’d been looking forward to it ever since he “bared” all in the first installment. I look forward to more in the conclusion, but also to see if they can finally cross their obstacles and truly be happy together. If they would just stop fighting each other, I see in them a love to withstand the ages. I cannot wait to see how this story ends!
