Having never had the honor of reading a book from Elle Aycart before, I basically went into this one blind. Let me tell you…she blew me away! From start to finish, I was riveted at each and every turn, of which there were many. Sexy, mystery, intrigue, humor, heartfelt, and did I mention SEXY? Because it must be mentioned…many times! I love when an author can write a scorching love scene, and Elle tops the charts! Leaving no detail untouched, I found myself quivering in my seat many times.

Deep Down is the story of Mike and Kyra, and theirs is a love that spans many years. Together as teenagers and in to their early twenties, miscommunication and assumptions lead to their break-up and separation for seven years. When they are thrust together again, literally, sparks fly and the tension is palpable. Years may have hardened them, but the spark and love is still there. It jumped from the pages and soared into my heart. I could feel it no matter how hard they tried to deny it, fight it, and stomp it into the ground. Two broken souls coming together for another shot at love, one which was never truly over, merely put on hold. They hit the proverbial pause button if you will. And when they hit play, well, you’ll want to be alone for that…

One of the main things I absolutely LOVED about this story were the side characters. From Kyra’s daughter Sam, to the OG’s, aka Original Grandmas, to their friends. They all added an essential element to the story and had me laughing when I wasn’t fanning myself. The tenderness between Sam and Mike was a pleasure to watch. I am a sucker for a man stepping into a father role when he doesn’t have to. Melts my heart EVERY time! And the OG’s; where do I even start? They MADE this book, and I just wanted to keep them.
He couldn’t deny her anything. She wasn’t on his skin; she was in him. In his blood. In his bones.
If there is one thing this book solidified for me, it’s that I will VERY soon be reading her others. I can’t imagine how I haven’t before this point, but I will be rectifying that promptly. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a book that has everything. I know you will love it as much as I did!
