She had a small amount of cash on her, and there was no telling how much longer she’d have access to her credit cards before they were put on hold. She called a cab company, then got out of the car, tossed the keys and cell phone beneath the seat—since her father could track that, as well—and manually locked the door.

Within minutes, a taxi pulled up to where Samantha was waiting. The driver was a friendly young girl in her early twenties, and she was counting on the other woman to find her just the right place to celebrate her first night of freedom. A place where no one knew her or would judge her or would expect her to be the good girl she’d always been.

“My name is Angie.” The girl glanced over her shoulder to the backseat with a friendly smile. “Where can I take you tonight?”

“To your favorite bar in the Chicago area.”

Angie’s brows rose in surprise as she took in Samantha’s designer purse and high-end attire. “Are you sure about that? My favorite bar is a far cry from The Aviary,” she said of the upscale lounge where the wealthy went to mingle and be seen. “The place I hang out at is a bit on the…unrefined side,” she said with a laugh.

Samantha grinned. “That’s exactly what I’m counting on.”

My Review

Even though this was the first book I’ve read from both of these authors, I’d heard many good things about them, so I was really excited going into this story. There was no stumbling, no skimming; I was engaged with the characters from the first page. When I first heard about this series and knew it was going to be about three damaged brothers, I was like, sign me up! I adore damaged, rough exterior characters. Because even though they are the hardest to get through to, once  you break down their walls it is some of the most magical reading you will ever do. This story was no different, but it also had the added bonus of dirty talkers and steamy scenes, two things I long for in my books. I simply couldn’t get enough of Saint and Cupcake.

I loved that from the beginning, Samantha was strong in her resolve. Here was a spoiled rich girl that wasn’t going to live her life as she was expected to any longer. The strength and resolve that she held steadfast to was glorious to experience. I love how easily she fit into her new world, as if she always had belonged there. I loved that she held no judgements or complaints, and just did what needed to be done. She kept her eye on the prize and fit in to her new environment flawlessly. Clay was such a dreamy character. To many he may have seemed a conundrum, but I saw through the facade. He held such a gruff exterior but underneath was literally the heart of a saint. Willing to go the extra mile for perfect strangers and fight for those he loved, but never asking nor wanting any thanks or recognition. And when these characters came together, explosions ensued. Their chemistry was off the charts and couldn’t be denied, no matter how hard Clay fought it. I loved that Samantha went after what she wanted and no one, especially Clay, was going to hold her back. But I also loved that even when he was pushing her away he was still fighting for her love, even though he didn’t realize it. Even through his resolve to never love another woman after years of neglect and abuse at the hands of his mother, he couldn’t fight the storm that was brewing between them.

This story had strife, action, and a whole lot of back room sheet wrestling and I couldn’t get enough! Next up is Mason and Katrina’s story and I can’t wait. I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment in this fantastic new series.
