Excerpt
“Is that what you do? I mean, do you often try to hit on women in coffee shops by buying coffee for them?”
“I can tell you with one-hundred percent truthfulness that I have never done that before.”
“Never?” I asked. He shook his head. A look passes over his face. I don’t know what it meant but I didn’t like it.
“Do you date a lot?” I ask quietly, wondering if he thought I would just be some kind of conquest.
“I haven’t dated.”
“You haven’t dated?” I look him over again. He must have thought I was stupid. Guys who looked like him must date a lot.
“I have never had to date.”
“What does that mean?”
“If I want to sleep with someone, I don’t need to date them.”
“What?” I breathed; that is not at all what I expected him to say. “You’re the guy that can get any girl he wants without ever putting any kind of effort into it.” He shrugs; the gesture made me feel sick, and at the same time, I wanted to kick him in the nuts. Maybe the red hair did make me have a temper.
“I never lead anyone on, or tell them things they want to hear.”
“So that makes it okay?”
“I don’t know if it makes it okay, but it’s who I am.”
“Well, I am glad that this is coming to light now, rather than later.”
“Oh no,” he shook his head, “this thing with you is something completely different.”
“Yeah, I know,” I told him, crossing my arms over my chest. “It’s different because I will not be sleeping with you.” I leaned forward. “EVER.”
“Well, I guess we answered the question about redheads and their tempers, didn’t we.” He smiled, showing off both dimples. “But trust me when I tell you, I would not have driven almost three hours just to sleep with you; that’s not what I am looking for.”
My Review
Lilly is someone who I will never take for granted, because I know how it feels to be without her and the light that she brings to my life.
Having read both of Aurora’s other books, I was eagerly anticipating this newest installment of the Until series. We received a small taste of Lilly and Cash at the end of Trevor’s book and I have been chomping at the bit ever since! He easily surpassed the other two brothers as my favorite and permanently cemented a place in my heart. This was a one sitting read for me, and that in itself shows just how much I loved it.
Cash and Lilly have a history, but because of an ex, they were separated for many years. Unbeknownst to Cash, their love had created a daughter. Our story begins with them running into each other and catapults from there. Beyond the hot sex, and trust me, there was plenty of that, this book is full of intrigue and heart. There were many moments where I jumped from swooning, to fanning myself, to wanting to literally cut a bitch. My emotions were all over the place, and I was on edge the entire time. I couldn’t read fast enough to find out where she was going to take these two characters I’d completely fallen in love with.
For me, the heart of the book was the kids. Watching Lilly interact with them, Cash falling instantly in love with his daughter, and the overall dynamic they had together. It was heartbreakingly beautiful to read the scenes between Lilly and Jax. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to cause someone bodily harm as much as I did Jules. That woman….ugh…. You’ll see what I mean and I feel confident you will agree.
“I hope you didn’t have anything important to do tomorrow, because there is no guarantee that you’re going to be able to walk.”
Nico’s book is up yet, and as he is the brother we know the least of, I cannot wait to read his story. I feel sure that Aurora will throw us some curveballs, and I eagerly await her trademark sexy angst!
